Thank you for signing up to WALK FOR KIT 2022!

A confirmation email has been sent to you so please check your inbox (including spam folder) and add us to your safe senders.

What's next?

1. Set up your sponsorship page

  • The best way to get sponsorship is to create an online fundraising page.  It is very simple.  Go to justgiving.com/campaign/walk-for-kit and click on 'Start fundraising' then follow instructions to set up your own fundraising page which will be linked to this event.

  • You can send the link to friends, colleagues and family for them to sponsor you online.

  • You can also donate directly.

  • We can also supply a paper sponsorship form if you prefer - click here to download one.

  • We have not set a minimum amount needed to raise in order to take part, but we would love to reach £10,000 in total. We hope to have 100  people take part, and if each person was able to raise £100, we would meet our target.  However, we  are extremely grateful for any amount raised, as every pound will make a difference.

  • We are offering some lovely rewards for reaching sponsorship targets:

    • Raise £100 and receive a Kit Tarka Foundation pin badge or button badge

    • Raise £250 and receive a Kit Tarka Foundation tote bag full of goodies

2. Get training!

You will know best how challenging the walk will be for you but we recommend everyone goes on several long walks before the big day. It is a beautiful walk but not without its challenges with the peaks and troughs of the Seven Sisters cliffs.

3. Turn up and walk!

  • Directions to the start

    • The walk begins and ends in East Dean.  In East Dean, turn from the A259 onto Gilbert’s Drive, signposted to Birling Gap, Beachy Head and Village Green. Take the first right onto Village Green Lane, signposted to the Tiger Inn.  You will see the Village Hall on your left. Parking for the walk is in the field directly opposite the village hall. Look out for ‘Kit Tarka Foundation’ signs and drive into the field.

    • PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE VILLAGE CAR PARK ITSELF.

    • If you need a lift, or can offer a lift, please let us know.

    • On arrival, make your way to the sign in table and let us know you are here. Also please remember to  sign out when you finish so we know you are back safe and sound.

    • You will be given your t-shirt at check-in.

  • Check-in times

    • Mammoth and Medium: Registration is at 7.30am with a 7.45am briefing and a prompt 8am departure.

    • Mini: Registration is at 9.30am with a 9.45am briefing and a prompt 10am departure.

  •  Route

    • Maps and walk directions will be given out on the day or you can download here.

    • If you want to complete the walk at your own pace you will need to have your own O/S explorer map no 123: Eastbourne & Beachy Head and be confident to map read.  You will also need a hard copy of the instructions to follow – please print out or see organisers on the day for a copy.

    • Each walk will also have two guides to take people around the circuit.  If you do not know the route and do not have a map, you will need to walk with the guides.

Please remember:

  • Wear sturdy and comfortable footwear.

  • Bring plentiful water, lunch and high energy snacks. There will be a half way refreshment point with water and snacks for all distances.

  • Bring sun cream, a sunhat, plasters, and warm outerwear.  Remember to bring waterproofs if the  weather is unsettled.

  • If you are bringing a dog, keep them on a lead when near livestock and especially when near the cliffs.

  • Follow the countryside code: take nothing and leave only footprints.  Remember to close all gates.

  • There will be a mobile medic on bike on the day if you have any problems.  Please let us know if you have any health conditions that may affect your walk.

  • As a massive thank you, on completion there will be plentiful tea and cake.

The Tiger Inn, who are the mastermind of the Tiger Mammoth challenge, serve thirst quenching drinks and hearty food, and are open until 11pm. They are also very kindly opening early on the day to allow walkers to use the toilets before setting off.

We would love your friends and family to join us too - please let them know all about the walk.

For any questions do please get in touch.
