GoOrange!
18th to 24th April is the week we all turn orange to raise awareness of neonatal herpes. You might wear orange, walk in orange, make an 'orangerie' of orange items, bake orange cakes, paint your face orange or just take a picture of something orange! Just choose a day that suits you and GoOrange! All to support Kit Tarka Foundation and help save babies' lives.
Neonatal herpes (the cold sore virus in babies) is the cause of death of up to one baby every week in the UK yet often remains undiagnosed and untreated. The awareness and funds raised by GoOrange! are vital in making many more people aware of the dangers of the herpes virus in newborns and saving lives as a result.
You can join in wherever you live in the world and all ages and abilities are very welcome - it really is an event for everyone!
Join alone, with friends and family, with a school or nursery or at your workplace - it is completely up to you. We just ask that you wear/hold/do something involving orange and share photos and videos on social media using the hashtags #GoOrangeForKit and #NeonatalHerpesAwareness and tagging @KitTarka. There will be a scavenger hunt for little ones and fabulous prizes for the best-dressed, biggest and most creative 'orangeries' and top fundraisers.
Everyone who registers will be emailed a downloadable GoOrange! pack with printable photo booth accessories, otter mask and scavenger hunt.
It will be wonderful to see our supporters across the country and around the world coming together in glorious orange in the week commencing 18th April. We can't wait to see your snaps!
Here's what you need to do:

Register to receive your downloadable GoOrange! pack

Make a donation here or text ORANGE to 70450 to donate the suggested £5 per household.

Choose your orange outfit or accessory (we have some photo booth props in the pack to help)

Choose your activity. It could be a quick snap at home, a walk in the park, an orange-based tea party or anything else - it is totally up to you!

If you are doing a sponsored challenge, set up a fundraising page (this is optional).

GoOrange! Get started and spread the word to friends and family and through your social media, if you have it.

Share your photos on social media or email them to info@kittarkafoundation.org to win some fabulous prizes*

Calling schools, nurseries and kids' clubs
Ask your local school, nursery or kids' club to get involved too with a suggested optional £2 donation per child. Last year we saw some brilliant efforts with children wearing orange clothes and taking part in creative activities such as orange play dough, orange sensory trays, orange juice stations and much more. GoOrange! with your place of work wherever that might be! You could wear orange for a day, plan some orange-based games, host a raffle or create an orange window display. Don't own orange clothes? Don't have much time? Don't worry! This week is all about raising awareness so just grab something orange, take a pic and upload to social media with the hashtags #GoOrangeForKit and #NeonatalHerpesAwareness and tagging @KitTarka.
Fundraising
To raise extra funds you could hold an orange-based cake sale, host a Zoom quiz, wash your neighbours' cars or, like this otterly fabulous family, get sponsored to go on a walk in your best orange outfits! There are lots more ideas in the fundraising pack but the only limit is your imagination.

Every public picture shared on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter with the hashtags #GoOrangeForKit and #NeonatalHerpesAwareness and tagged @KitTarka will be entered into a competition to win some brilliant prizes. On Facebook, you will need to make sure your photo is public or we won't be able to see it. On Instagram, if you don't have a public profile then just send a direct message with a screenshot. If you aren't on Social Media then you can email your pictures to info@kittarkafoundation.org to be in with a chance of winning.
