KTF CHAMPIONS (voluntary)

Looking to make a difference in the world? Join us at KTF!

We are looking for 'champions' to join the Kit Tarka Foundation family and help save babies’ lives by volunteering across all areas of the charity from fundraising events to social media - depending on their skills and interests. Could this be you or someone you know?

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are recruiting a group of volunteer KTF Champions to act as ambassadors for Kit Tarka Foundation and to be our first port of call when we have volunteering opportunities.

From following and engaging with us on social media to greeting a marathon runner with a goodie bag, from packaging Christmas cards to sourcing raffle prizes, from dropping off information leaflets to your local GP surgery to hosting your own cake sale; we have a whole range of activities we would love your help with.

Whatever your background or skills and however much time you are able to offer, we are sure to be able to find a volunteering opportunity to suit you.

How to apply: Please send an email explaining why you would like to volunteer and how much time you are able to offer to info@kittarkafoundation.org.

We warmly welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds.

Deadline for applications: Ongoing

TRUSTEES (voluntary)

Help us save babies' lives

We are recruiting a number of voluntary positions to join our Board of Trustees.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Trustees are voluntary committee members who lead the charity and decide how it is run. We currently have four trustees and are seeking at least two more.

We are seeking motivated and hands-on trustees with, ideally but not essentially, skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Maternity/obstetric care in an NHS setting

  • Neonatal care in an NHS setting

Applications from individuals without experience in the above areas are still welcomed and will be considered carefully.

Previous board/trustee experience is not necessary and we welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds.

There are four trustee meetings a year (held in Brighton) and Trustees are encouraged to volunteer at our main fundraising events – KitFest (biennial) and Walk for Kit (annual). The anticipated time commitment above this is expected to be about 30 hours a year.

For an informal chat, contact our Chief Executive, Sarah de Malplaquet at sarah@kittarkafoundation.org

How to apply: Please send your CV and a covering email to info@kittarkafoundation.org.

We warmly welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds.

Deadline for applications: Ongoing

SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETER (Voluntary)

Can you help amplify our voice and reach new audiences with our life-saving advice?

Join the Kit Tarka Foundation family and help save babies’ lives by creating a compelling social media strategy and content to increase our audience and keep them engaged.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced social media marketer to work with us to help increase audience engagement. By helping us reach new audiences and keep them engaged you can make more people aware of the simple things they can do to prevent babies from catching herpes and to recognise signed and symptoms of infection in young babies. You will also help our message reach health professionals and remind them of the things they can do to help prevent and treat the herpes virus in babies. This will undoubtedly save lives.

Your input will shape how we present ourselves to the general public, funders and other stakeholders. With your help we will be able to prevent more newborn baby deaths than ever before.

We would like the volunteer to:

  • Perform a social media audit: Assess the current state of our social media pages and make recommendations on how we might improve our presence and engagement and where we might focus our efforts

  • Help us develop and/or execute a social media campaign around our future fundraising events

  • Provide guidance/strategy on how we can manage our social media on an ongoing basis including guidance on schedulers

  • Produce fresh and engaging content for our social media channels

  • Prepare graphics for sharing across channels

  • Engage with our followers and encourage interaction

  • Manage and maintain social media channels on a regular basis

We are a very small team so you will be working directly with the Chief Executive who will provide our existing brand/style guidelines.

The anticipated time commitment is between 1 and 5 hours per week.

Very flexible hours to fit around existing commitments.

How to apply: Please send your CV and a covering email explaining why you would like to volunteer and how much time you are able to offer to info@kittarkafoundation.org.

We warmly welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds.

Deadline for applications: 31 August 2022

WALK FOR KIT CREW (Voluntary)

Can you help support our biggest fundraising event?

Walk for Kit is our annual sponsored walk across the South Downs in East Sussex. Can you help support the walkers by stewarding, acting as our First Aider or helping at a refreshment stop?

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for crew to help support our Walk for Kit walkers and make it the special, memorable day it always is.

Assistance is needed in the following areas:

  • Leading or stewarding on one of the three walk distances (1/4 marathon, 1/2 marathon, full marathon). You will need to be fit enough to comfortable walk the distance, able to read a map and follow directions and be confident guiding walkers away from cliffs!

  • Hosting a refreshment stop/cheerleading. This will involve setting up a gazebo and table, laying out the refreshments, signing people in and out and giving our walkers a cheer as they arrive/leave.

  • Acting as our First Aider. You will be a qualified first aider with the confidence and knowledge to act in emergency circumstances.

  • Helping out at Walk for Kit HQ. Signing people in, co-ordinating t-shirts and goodie bags and hosting the tea and cake stall.

For all roles, you will need to be available for at least 10am to 5pm but ideally 7.30am to 7.30pm.

Crew t-shirts provided on the day for all volunteers.

How to apply: Please send an email explaining why you would like to volunteer and in what role to info@kittarkafoundation.org.

We warmly welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds.
